SILG Mar Roxas Leads Formal Turn Over of New Patrol Jeepneys to Municipal Police Stations in Albay and Sorsogon

For two consecutive days, the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Manuel A. Roxas II, led the ceremonies on the formal turn over of new patrol jeepneys to municipal stations in the Provinces of Albay and Sorsogon in the Bicol Region.

On June 4, Sec. Roxas arrived in Legazpi City where he was welcomed by the Governor of Albay, Joey Sarte Salceda, and the Regional Directors of the DILG and agencies attached to the DILG, namely the National Police Commission, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. Also present to welcome Sec. Roxas were officers of the Philippine Air Force-Tactical Operations Group Region 5, as well as officers of different government agencies and civil society organizations.

Upon arrival in Legazpi City, Sec. Roxas had a radio interview at DZGB. After which, he headed to the Albay Provincial Capitol for the turn over of 15 patrol jeepneys for each of the 15 municipal police stations in Albay. The ceremony was attended, among others, by the local chief executives of the 15 municipalities, as well as their respective chiefs of police.

The following day, June 5, Sec. Roxas arrived in Sorsogon City where he also had a radio interview at DZMS before heading to the formal turn over ceremony of 14 patrol jeepneys outside the Sorsogon Provincial Capitol. Each of the 14 municipal police stations received a patrol jeepney. The mayors of the respective municipalities and the chiefs of police were present in the ceremony. The Provincial Government was represented by the Provincial Administrator, Robert Lee Rodriguez.

In the two days of his visit in this part of the region, Sec. Roxas held dialogues with businessmen, professionals, youth, and civil society organizations.

Sec. Roxas is the ex-officio chairperson of the National Police Commission.
