Q: Do I need to take the Entrance Examination?
A: If you do not have any eligibility to enter police service, you need to take and pass the Entrance Examination to acquire an eligibility. You do not need to take the Entrance Examination if you already have any of the following eligibilities: (a) R.A. 1080 (board and bar), (b) PD 907 (for honor graduates; conferred by CSC), (c) CSC Professional, and (d) RA 6506 (licensed criminologists).
Q: If I intend to take the Entrance Examination, what minimum qualifications must I possess?
A: For AGE, you should not be more than 30 years old. For HEIGHT, male applicants must be at least 1.62m and female applicants must be at least 1.57m. Applicants must also possess a bachelor’s degree.
Q: What if I am underheight?
A: The height requirement may be waived subject to conditions. (read Memorandum Circular 2013-004 for more information). For members of Indigenous Peoples Group (duly certified either by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples or National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, as the case may be) with approved waiver, the minimum height requirement is 1.52m for males and 1.45m for females. For height waiver granted by reason of special talents or skills, the minimum height requirement is 1.57m for males and 1.52m for females.
Q: Is it possible to file my application for Entrance Examination online?
A: No. As of the moment, filing of application for Entrance Examination is done by personally going to the nearest NAPOLCOM Regional Office.
Q: I heard of Online Examination Application Scheduling System or the OLEASS. Is this not equivalent to online filing of application?
A: No. Using the OLEASS is but a part of the process of filing your application. You need to use the OLEASS on the dates specified (August 3-7, 2015 for the October 25, 2015 Entrance Examination) in order to get a confirmed schedule of the date when you will have to go to the NAPOLCOM Regional Office to personally file your application for the Entrance Examination. Q: What do I need to bring to the NAPOLCOM Regional Office at my confirmed schedule for personal filing of my application to take the Entrance Examination?
A: You must bring the following:
(1) Printed letter-reply/corresponding reference number confirming the scheduled appointment (obtained by using OLEASS);
(2) An Application Form (NAPOLCOM Form 1-A) and Index Card, duly accomplished by the applicant and two (2) recent and identical 1”x1” ID pictures (in color) with white background and complete name tag;
(3) Fee in the amount of P400 (no other fees shall be collected);
(4) One legal-size window envelope with P15 worth of mailing stamps;
(5) Transcript of Scholastic Record (with Special Order issued by the CHED) or Diploma from CHED-Accredited schools, state universities and colleges;
(6) Birth Certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar or by the main and field offices of the National Statistics Office;
(7) For a PO1 with temporary appointment, a certified true copy of Attested Appointment, Plantilla Appointment or Special Order.
However, an examinee who fails an examination or, after being admitted to take said exam, fails to take it for one reason or another, NEED NOT RESUBMIT the requirements should he/she apply again for the SAME EXAMINATION in the SAME EXAMINATION CENTER. The applicant will only have to:
- submit the ADMISSION SLIP of the last exam applied for
- fill out a new application form and index card with ID pictures
- pay the examination fee

Q: What if I just mail my application and the required supporting documents?
A: Applications received through postal mail SHALL NOT BE PROCESSED. An applicant must file his/her application, together with the required supporting documents on his/her scheduled appointment PERSONALLY only at the NAPOLCOM Regional Office where he intends to take the examination.
Q: Can I take the Entrance Examination online?
A: No. Entrance Examination is conducted simultaneously nationwide at designated testing centers.
Q: What do I wear on the date of the Entrance Examination?
A: You must wear plain white t-shirt or white polo shirt, dark pants and shoes. Examinees who are not in prescribed attire will not be allowed to enter the testing center.
Q: What do I bring on the date of the Entrance Examination?
A: You must bring your (1) Notice of Admission, (2) Pencil-No. 2, and (3) any valid identification card with picture and signature. Applicants are advised not to bring any other item on the date of the examination to avoid any delay in entering the testing centers. Firearms, mobile phones, review materials, calculator or any electronic gadget, explosives and deadly weapons are strictly prohibited; applicants caught with any of these items will be automatically disqualified from taking the examination and his/her examination result shall be nullified.
Q: What is the coverage of the Entrance Examination?
A: The Entrance Examination includes multiple-choice questions (which must be completed in three hours), covering the following subject areas:
- General Information (Phil. Constitution and History, PNP Law and History, Criminal Justice Systems, Current Events, Social Awareness and Value Judgment)
- Verbal Reasoning (Vocabulary, Comprehension, Grammar)
- Quantitative Reasoning (Basic Concepts, Problem-Solving Skills)
- Logical Reasoning (Verbal, Non-Verbal)
Q: What is the penalty for applicants who are caught cheating?
A: Examinees who are caught cheating shall be permanently barred from taking the NAPOLCOM examinations. CLICK HERE for details on the sanctions upon those who are caught cheating.
Q: If I pass the Entrance Examination, do I automatically become a member of the Philippine National Police?
A: No. Passing the Entrance Examination merely gives you the eligibility to enter police service. You will still have to go through the recruitment process of the PNP, which includes, among others, psychological/psychiatric examination, physical/mental/dental examination, background investigation, physical agility test, and interview.
