The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has awarded plaques of recognition and cash rewards to the winners of the Search for 2019 Model Philippine National Police (PNP) Families.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary and NAPOLCOM Chairman Eduardo M. Año together with NAPOLCOM Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio T. Casurao and Commissioners Felizardo M. Serapio, Jr., Zenonida F. Brosas and Job M. Mangente as well as PNP Chief Police General Oscar D. Albayalde awarded the winners in a ceremony held at the PNP National Headquarters, Camp Crame, Quezon City on September 23, 2019.
The 2019 Most Outstanding Family is the Nami Family. Police Master Sergeant (PMSg) Mashul S. Nami Jr. is assigned at the Bayugan City Police Station, Agusan del Sur Provincial Police Office (PPO), Police Regional Office (PRO) CARAGA. As member of the PNP SALAAM Police Center, PMSg Nami carries out various activities with Muslim communities in addressing terrorism and lawless violence in their respective areas to ensure respect of cultural diversity and cooperation. He also authored “Project Shukran” which is considered as one of the best practices of BCPS for Muslim communities. His wife Catherine is a retired public-school teacher and is currently connected with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as City Link Officer of 4Ps. Through Catherine’s initiatives, her team was awarded “Most Outstanding City Operations Office of CARAGA.” The couple has dedicated their lives in conducting family development symposia and seminars bringing local government agencies’ services to far-flung barangays. Like their parents, their children are also active in various youth organizations, clubs and school activities.
Awarded as the first runner-up is the Teope Family. Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMSg) Joseph T. Teope is currently assigned at the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company in Camp Francisco Camacho, Virac, Catanduanes PPO, PRO5. PSMSg Teope represented his office in various community activities either as guest speaker, lecturer or preacher. The Teope family is active in community services as members of the National Chaplaincy Philippines (NACPHIL) which provides Family Development Sessions (FDS) to 4Ps beneficiaries. As devout Christians, his family serves the Church of Praise and organized the “Couples’ Fellowship” and student ministry in their area.
The second runner-up is the Montes Family. Police Chief Master Sergeant (PCMSg) Sonny T. Montes is a member of the San Luis Municipal Police Station (MPS), Aurora PPO, PRO3. In order to help their community, the Montes family signed an agreement with the Sanguniang Barangay for the free usage of the one hectare land. The property was used for their “Gulayan sa Barangay” program. The family also practices the Solid Waste Management Act 9003 (s. 2001) by composting or recycling waste materials to make organic fertilizers for their gulayan. As the founder of Dengvaxia Warriors Aurora Group in February 2017, their family conducted information drive and financial assistance through a mini-concert for the benefit of the victims’ families. Likewise, the family sponsored medical missions, giving free medicines, vitamins and medical supplies to indigent families of six (6) recipient-barangays in their area.
The third runner-up is the Ceralde family. Police Captain (PCapt) Clemente G. Ceralde Jr. is currently assigned at Dumanjug Police Station, Cebu City PPO, PRO7. PCapt. Ceralde was awarded as one of the Top 3 Best Police Officer. He was assigned in different police stations in Cebu City. Under his leadership, the Cordova Police Station was awarded as the Best Police Station in Cebu in 2016. He also initiated vegetable gardening which was featured in “Balitang Bisdak,” a radio program in Cebu.
The fourth runner-up is the Tactay family. Police Captain (PCapt) Pedro T. Tactay is the Deputy Chief of the Police Community Affairs Development Branch, Mountain Province PPO and his wife Anilane Ayochok Tactay works at the Department of Agrarian Reform-Mountain Province. PCapt Tactay and his children are recipients of various awards and commendations for their achievements in schools and community services. The Family embodies Filipino values of respect, optimism and generosity by showing compassion to those who are in need and going out of their way to uplift other people’s lives.
Aside from the plaque of recognition, winners also received the following cash awards: P200,000 for the grand winner; P150,000 for the 1st runner-up; P100,000 for the 2nd runner-up; P70,000 for the 3rd runner-up; and 50,000 for the 4th runner-up.
The cash award for the winners of the 2019 Model PNP Families was sponsored by the DILG, NAPOLCOM, Foundation for Crime Prevention, Inc. (FCP), Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), SM Prime Holdings, Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI), Megaworld Corporation, Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), Jollibee Foods Corporation, Globe Telecom and Victory Liner.
“The nationwide Search, which is now on its 7th year, aims to encourage and inspire PNP uniformed personnel to induce positive change in the community by serving as role model,” Atty. Casurao said.
