NAPOLCOM 5 Observes 25th National Crime Prevention Week

     Every first week of September of every year is declared as the National Crime Prevention Week pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 461 dated August 31, 1994. All government agencies and instrumentalities of government are enjoined to evolve and implement projects and activities that focus on prevention as an approach in combating criminality. This year’s theme is “Buhay Pahalagahan, Komunidad Magtulungan, Krimen Hadlangan” highlights the importance of partnership and commitment in order ensure public safety, reduce the fear and the incidence of crime in the community.

     The National Police Commission Regional Office V, being true to its mandate, manifested support through the conduct of Community Oriented Activities that shall promote and advance the NCPW’s objectives. Series of Lectures on Crime Prevention were conducted by the Office in different public schools and Barangays in the Region with emphasis on Pito Laban sa Krimen Campaign where people are taught that a tool as simple as a regular whistle may help repel crimes in the community.

     One of the highlights of the National Crime Prevention Week is the recognition of the efforts of our Police Officers who have shown commitment in ensuring a safe and crime-free community for all Bicolanos. This year’s PNP Gallantry Award for Region V was conferred to the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit – Special Operations Unit (RPDEU-SOU) Police Regional Office V, which was received by PMAJ Aldin Orquita Jr.

     Plaques of recognition were also given to the 2019 Model Family awardees PSMS Joseph T. Teope of Virac Municipal Police Station, Catanduanes PPO as the Regional winner: and PSSg Rochelle Sinaon Sumayao of Police Station 1, Naga City Police Office for the 2nd place.

   Plaques of Recognition were also given to the following Chiefs of Police who led the conceptualization an implementation of the various CSOP Projects which significantly contributed to the prevention of crimes and improvement of peace and order in the community: PLTCOL Edison A. Dumangas, Sorsogon City “Police Station for Project Care” (Community-based Advocacy for Recovery and Education), an after care program for PWUDs; PMAJ Josefino  C. Titong Jr., Virac Municipal Police Station for “Bote ni Sammy”; PCOL Jonathan O Panganiban, Naga City Police Office for “Kabuhayan, Kaiba in Kapulisan”; PMAJ Rodolfo T. Oliver Jr, Goa Municipal Police Station for “After-Care Program for Drug Surrendered Drug Users”; PLTCOL Nilo S. Berdin Jr., Legazpi City Police Station for “Salabat and Coffee with Kasurog Cops and Legazpi City Integrated Parking Attendant Association”; PLTCOL Lorenco C. Bacia. Ligao City Police Station for “Bigas Ko Alay Sayo”; PCPT Rosario Ojeda Capile Jr., Malinao Municipal Police Station for “Project Heart”; PCPT Dexter Ventura Nabol, Jovellar Municipal Police Station for Project “SIKAP”; PMAJ Norlando F. Mesa, Polangui Municipal Police Station for “Ilaw asin Posas, sa Pag Usbong Samong Armas”; and PCPT Rene B. Bea, Malilipot Municipal Police Station for Project “Pagpag”.
